Nigerian teenager shot dead in South Africa

Nigerian Community in South Africa has once again been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of a 17-year-old Nigerian boy identified as Denni Chinonso Obiaju, in Johannesburg on Saturday July 20.

Obiaju who lived with his guardian, Mr Mike Nsofor, in Rooderpt, Johannesburg, was said to have gone to a shop to buy an item with a friend when they were both chased by a yet-to-be identified person who opened fire on them. Obiaju died instantly.

The President of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, who confirmed the incident, said the family of the deceased have agreed to bury him in South Africa since he was born there. Olubajo called on the Federal Government to urgently protect Nigerians in the Diaspora.

This unfortunate incident comes few weeks after a Nigerian Insurance expert, Mrs Obianuju Ndubuisi-Chukwu, was killed by yet to be identified persons in her hotel room in South Africa.
