The old SIIB/SCID Panti Street Police station, Adekunle, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria is currently on fire. It is hoped that the Police personnel at the station will be able to manage this situation without resulting in casualty or escape of suspects in custody (especially the hardened ones) inside the building. I grew up on Patey and from its aerial outlook, nothing had changes in close to 60 years. It’s time some mid-to-long term strategies are in place to review planning and modernisation of institutions – if not because most of this will be financially diverted to selfish, personal use.
